Photojournalism at AA

I enjoy all my classes at Alpine Academy, but one stand out for me is photojournalim. This class enables you to be creative while still learning writing and photography techniques to use in real life. The teacher lets the students choose what they would like to write about and take their own approach to it. The photgraphy portion of the class is really fun. And it is amazing to see the techniques come to life in the photos. Photojournalism is a fun class to take and I recommed fellow students to take it.

My school Alpine Academy

I go to school at Alpine Academy in San Diego. Its a small school, which I love. It easier to get the right amount of attention from the teachers in the classroom. I think that this is important because when a class is too big students tend to fall behind and kind of lost in the crowd. The atmosphere is well coming and I feel like I'm at home when im here. The teachers actually care about the students and try to make their experience and education more enjoyable and guide them through it. Thank you to the staff and friends for making my high school experience great!

Earthquake and Tsunami hits Japan

On March 11th at 10:00 am, Japan's Northeast coast was devastated  by a  8.9 magnitude earthquake. the epicenter was located in the city of Sendai, Japan. It destroyed buildings and mangled roadways. Followed by the five minutes long earthquake a 10 meter high tsunami came crashing into the ports and beaches of Japan. The gigantic wave was moving at the speed of 560 mpr. The wave destroyed cities and towns, while the earthquake started massive fires. More than 5,600 people were killed by the disaster and over 9,500 people are missing.
The devastation of  the quake and tsunami shocked the world, the damage was immense because of the  unpreparedness of the country. Most of the deaths were caused from the tsunami. Relief  efforts have been made by the U.S.through navy carriers. People can make donations for relief efforts for Japan at the red cross website: www.redcross.org. As fellow people of this planet, we should try to help these people in anyway possible. Our prayers go out to those how have lost loved ones in the disaster and those who are holding on.

Substance Abuse

Today at school,  a narcotics police officer came to our school to do a presentation about the circumstances for substance abuse like street drugs, prescription drugs, and alcohol. He specifically told us the ramifications of driving under the influence of alcohol and how effect everyone involved in a alcohol related collision. I think that this is the most common occurrence in teens life. And Im very thankful that he made us aware of the dangers of alcohol. I think that all kids should try to be more responsible to themselves.

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch

My opinion on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is that we took for granted the health of the planet and we miss treated it. Pollution is a huge part of this and we must reverse the effects of it on the earth.

Photography

I learned that when taking photos you must keep distractions out of  the photo like unrelated bulidings and shapes. And to step closer to you subject instead of using zoom can offer a good composition. And that taking group photos it is better to get closer and focus in the faces.
